Job description:
Montessori Community School (MCS) is seeking an experienced Montessori certified teacher in its 6-9 year old program to start in the 2024-2025 school year. As an AMS accredited school and an active member of an independent school community in Hawaii, MCS offers a stable and supportive environment for teachers to do their best work.
Candidate must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in education, Montessori certification at the Elementary level, and three years teaching experience.. Montessori certifications may be through the American Montessori Society (AMS), Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), or MACTE.
Teachers will be expected to implement the Montessori curriculum with fidelity, collaborate with colleagues, manage a classroom budget, communicate regularly and meet with parents to keep them apprised of their child’s progress, prepare student progress reports, maintain professional conduct, and participate in typical school-wide activities.
Elementary I (6-9) Classroom Teacher Job Description:
Prepare and maintain a Montessori environment for students ages 6-9 years old.
Prepare and maintain a safe and healthy environment for children.
Prepare for and deliver effective lessons for student learning in all areas of the curriculum.
Demonstrate effective classroom management skills.
Maintain accurate and useful records for student reporting.
Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and administrators.
Participate in regular faculty meetings, school events, and ongoing professional development.
Teachers must be able to walk up and down stairs and sit on the floor. Elementary teachers accompany students on an annual camping trip and need to be able to engage in physical activities such as hiking and carrying supplies.
Scheduled hours are 7:15 a.m. – 3:15 p.m. The school year begins in mid August and ends in late May or early June, depending on the annual calendar. Summer employment is available and optional.
Compensation
Salary range: $55,000-$65,000
