Primary Head Techer in Bellevue, Washington

Bellevue Montessori School is seeking a passionate Primary Montessori Head Teacher to start this fall 2021 with at least two years of Montessori head teaching experience. Bellevue Montessori has been serving families on Seattle’s Eastside for 55 years and is proud to be accredited by the American Montessori Society.

We have been successfully open for in-person learning since June 2020 without any transmission of Covid within our Campuses and are excited to safely transition back to our regular classroom program while still following all State of Washington guidelines.

We are looking for a positive individual who will provide an academically rich, engaging and respectful environment which meets the needs of each individual student and adheres to authentic Montessori practices and pedagogy. This is a 10-month contracted position with optional summer employment.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • A Montessori Teaching Credential from an AMS, AMI, or MACTE-recognized training center at the Primary level.

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Ability to relate to and inspire students on their independent educational journey

  • Experience leading a Primary classroom and establishing a normalized environment based on kindness and respect.  Support and mentoring provided by our Primary Educational Director as needed.

  • Evidence of emotional maturity and stability.

  • Strong personal communication and written communication skills.

  • Technical skills that support recordkeeping (Google Classroom, Transparent Classroom) and parent communication.

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States, and at least 18 years of age.

  • Willingness to complete state requirements: Infant/Child First Aid & CPR Training, MMR immunization, TB Test, Background Check & Fingerprinting, Food Handler’s Permit as well as complete the covid-19 vaccine protocol.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish a normalized Montessori prepared environment that meets the unique needs of the Primary students.

  • Maintain observations, and individual recordkeeping for lessons and student mastery.  Use of Transparent Classroom for recording lessons given and mastered is required, but observations can be done using an alternative method if desired.

  • Prepare materials, lessons and other needs necessary for the classroom in accordance with traditional Montessori philosophy.

  • Attend all school meetings and school related functions.

  • Establish and maintain good communications with parents through parent conferences, meetings, informal communication, emails, two progress reports, Parent Education Evenings and the weekly classroom newsletter.

  • Collaborate effectively with other staff members including other Head Teachers, our Learning Specialists and our Primary Program Director for curriculum planning, parent education events, student support, and for continued professional growth.

  • Demonstrate a growth mindset for professional and personal growth.
